LAKELAND | Michael Solano was sitting near an interesting-looking machine this morning in the GreenSpace area at Sun ‘n Fun Fly-In.
The Blue Ridge, Texas, man is with a company called Molnari (www.molnari.com), and the machine he was there to discuss is a flying motorcyle.
Come again?Indeed, it's a "green," flying motorcyle, and Solano is a gyrocopter pilot who's been taking it on test runs. And, he said, it works. At least 40 times, he said, he's taken that rascal up in the sky.
"It's cool," he said. "And there's nothing else out there."
Among all the talk about the vintage war planes and aerobatic aircraft featured at the Sun n' Fun Air Expo in Lakeland next week will be conversation about some even more exotic vehicles.
Aviation engineers are molding together airplanes that can roll down the road and cars that can soar into the atmosphere.
